Drop-in Service

One of the feelings felt by many survivors is the feeling of isolation, feeling that you are alone and that nobody understands what you are going through. Attending the Drop-in gives survivors the opportunity to meet other women survivors, who understand and can empathise with what you are feeling, thus alleviating some of the isolation and loneliness.

What do I do when I get there?

We provide refreshments. The Drop-in has a small library, from which you are welcome to borrow books & an information file containing information about other services that may be useful to survivors. Anybody attending the Drop-in can request a 20 min 1-1 session with one of our trained volunteer workers. Many Drop-in users are anxious on their first visit. If you would like to be met at the door, please contact our office & this can be arranged. We ask that women who attend the Drop-in pay a £2 contribution towards our costs.

What our Drop-In Users say. . .

About our volunteers - “Dedicated, caring and good listeners, able to facilitate discussions sensitively when necessary and allow us to be ourselves.” About The Drop-in - “An invaluable source of support…a place to just ‘be’, safely. A place to feel I belong.” “I’m not alone” “. . . helped me come to terms with what happened, start healing and moving on.”

When is it open?

The Drop-in is open on the first & third Thursday of every month, women are free to arrive and leave any time between 7pm-9pm. Survivors, their supporters, carers, friends, relatives and partners are all welcome, though this is a women only event.
